CONCORD - Three demonstrators were taken into custody after they refused to leave a state government building on Tuesday.
State Troopers got involved around 4:30 p.m. when they responded to the Legislative Office Building at 33 N. State Street in Concord to assist the State House Security Unit in the incident.
When troopers arrived, they learned that while the security team tried to secure a committee meeting room at the end of the day, they encountered three people who had attended an earlier meeting in the room and were now refusing to leave.
Troopers, along with members of the Security Unit, asked the individuals to leave numerous times, however, despite repeated warnings that they would be arrested, the group refused to leave the room inside the closed facility. The three individuals were then taken into custody without incident.
They were later identified as Sarah Chapman, 44, of Nottingham, Juliana Good, 25, of Newmarket, and Lisa Beaudoin, 54, of Concord, all Democrats, who were demonstrating in opposition to any Medicaid cuts.
They were charged with one count of disorderly conduct and released on personal recognizance bail, and are scheduled to appear in Concord District Court on Aug 8.
Beaudoin is chair of the Concord Democratic City Committee.
