Dover man who robbed bank just steps from his home pleads guilty

CONCORD - The Dover man who robbed a bank a 100 yards from his home in March pleaded guilty to the heist on Monday.

Jose Rivera-Morales, 31, of Dover, pleaded guilty in federal court to bank robbery. He will be sentenced in January.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on March 23, Rivera-Morales walked into the Kennebunk Savings Bank on Central Avenue in Dover and gave a teller a note demanding money. Rivera-Morales told the teller "not to be stupid" and displayed a gun, later determined to be an airsoft BB gun.

The teller gave Rivera-Morales a quantity of United States currency and he fled the scene.

About four hours later and after receiving numerous tips from the public via social media, a K-9 unit tracked Rivera-Morales to a Central Avenue residence not far from the bank and he was apprehended.
