DOVER - Dover Police today continue their investigation into whether the Thursday double stabbing at the Ninety Nine restaurant may have been the result of a self-defense scenario.
The altercation unfolded around 4:35 p.m. when police say
a male from Farmington and a female from Somersworth became embroiled in a dispute with a Rochester man that quickly turned physical.
During the fight, the Rochester man stabbed the Farmington man several times, and the woman was injured while attempting to intervene, according to a release posted Friday by Dover Police Lt. Mark Nadeau, who noted that all three were known to each other.
Both injuries were considered non life threatening, police said.
After interviewing all three involved along with multiple witnesses Nadeau told The Rochester Voice on Friday, "we are exploring the possibility of self defense."
The Rochester man initially fled the scene, but later was interviewed by Dover Police.
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances and motive behind the incident, however at this time no criminal charges have been filed.
Dover Police ask that anyone with information about the incident to call the Dover Police Department at 603-742-4646. Those wishing to remain anonymous can provide information to the Dover Crimeline at 603-749-6000. The Dover Crimeline can also be contacted via www.dovernhcrimeline.org
