Driver killed in Monday crash on Spaulding identified as Alton woman

DOVER - The driver killed in a crash on the Spaulding Turnpike on Monday has been identified as an Alton woman, police said today.

Nicole Arkis, 59, died when a tractor trailer headed southbound on the Spaulding Turnpike veered across the median and into the northbound lanes where it collided head-on with her 2022 Acura.
The crash occurred around 2:35 p.m. in the area of mile marker 6.4 in Dover.
Upon arrival police determined that the tractor-trailer was traveling southbound on Route 16 when it went off the roadway to the left, went over the guardrail and into the northbound travel lane of Route 16 where it collided
Arkis' car and a 2016 Honda Accord.
As a result of the crash, the operator of the Honda sustained minor injuries.
Their name has not bee released.

The operator of the tractor trailer was identified as Pedro Ivan Ortiz Andino, 29, of Fitchburg, Mass.
The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unit responded to the scene and assumed the lead of the investigation.
