DOVER - A mechanical issue is being blamed for an accident on Route 16 today that involved a Peterbilt Dump truck that crashed into woods north of Exit 9.

The accident occurred around 10:45 a.m., when State Police say the truck was headed north when ithe operator, James Cartmill, 60, of Concord, lost control and veered off the roadway into the tree line.

Cartmill complained of soreness and sought treatment at a local urgent care, police say..

The right lane of Route 16 in the area of the crash was shut down for more than three hours due to recovery and cleanup.

The cause of this crash appears to be a mechanical issue; however, all aspects of this case remain under investigation.
