EAST ROCHESTER - It's been more than six years since Rochester had its own full-fledged sports bar with plenty of pool tables, a ton of TVs and live bands playing on weekends.
That hiatus will come to an end at 11 a.m. on Nov. 15 when Eastside Tavern & Busters Billiards opens in the former VFW building on Highland Street.
"We'll be ready," said owner Steve Fleming. "We're pretty much fully staffed and ready to go."
Fleming, who formerly ran Buster's Billiards in Somersworth, said Eastside Tavern will focus on being a fun, family oriented sports and recreation destination that serves up a delicious mix of specialty menu items, a dozen draft beers and an assortment of cocktails as well.
"Almost all of our food is made from scratch," Fleming said on Monday. "We also grind our own sausage and hamburg."
He said some of their specialty menu items will include their Schnitzel Reuben, New England Pot Roast and Chicken Parmigiana.
They'll also have gluten free menu options and gluten free rolls for sandwiches.
The centerpiece of the tavern is a brand new 60-foot L-shaped bar and a nearby 120-inch projection TV to watch the big game.
Sprinkled throughout the space will be 10 pool tables and an additional 20 65-inch TVs.
Fleming said in addition they'll have live bands playing every Friday and Saturday night.
Eastside Tavern and Busters Billiards will be open Sunday through Wednesday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
