EAST ROCHESTER - Eastside Tavern & Buster's Billiards in East Rochester is coming up on its first birthday next month, and time flies so fast that I never got the chance to check it out till just earlier this month, and boy was I impressed.
The tavern has an open and airy feel much like the former Gary's Sport Bar on Milton Road, and the crowd there during last Sunday's Patriots game was just as animated and into the game as they ever were at Gary's.
Eastside Tavern features a 60-foot L-shaped bar and a nearby 120-inch projection TV to watch the big games.
Another 20 65-inch TVs make for a gametime experience where there are no "obstructed view" seats to say the least.
At last week's game against the Saints we learned they have great food, too, including some great nacho plates perfect for when you're watching the Pats.
We got the Irish Nacho plate, which included pub chips (sort of like mini hash browns) layered with onions, peppers, corned beef and generous amounts of cheddar jack cheese.
The portion was so large we took a lot of the pub chips home to use as hash browns Monday morning.
The Irish Nacho plate was just 11 bucks, and btw, 16-oz. domestic drafts are less than three bucks.
