ROCHESTER - Eleanor C. Smith (Maskell) died on Thursday, June 22, 2017, her 88th birthday.
Eleanor was born June 22, 1929 in Phillipsburg, Quebec, Canada. She lived in her cherished home country of Canada raising four of her daughters before moving to the United States in 1967, where she married and continued growing and nurturing her large family.
Eleanor was a resident of Manchester, N.H. until 1980, when she, her husband and two youngest children moved to Gilford, N.H. and enjoyed the beauty of the Lakes Region. Later in life, Eleanor would make her home in Rochester, N.H. where she resided until she passed.
There was nothing in her world more important than her beloved children, Lynda Sawicki (Guay) and her husband Gary of Manchester, N.H.; Elizabeth Brooks (Guay) and her husband, Alan of Wolfeboro, N.H.; Debra Myers (Guay) and her husband Steven of Lawrenceville, Ga.; Susan Curran (Guay) and her husband Joseph of Rochester, N.H.; William Smith and his wife Kelly of Merrimack, N.H. and Dawn Smith and her wife Susan Piche of Goffstown, N.H.
Eleanor was "Grandma" to Kimberly Peterson and Daniel Myers of Georgia, Stephanie Brooks of North Carolina and Jennifer Brooks of Manchester, N.H.; Megan Gerbino and Sean Curran of Rochester, N.H.; Erin, Jill, Jonathan and Joshua Smith all of Phoenix, Ariz.; and she was Great Grandma to 12.5 grandchildren.
Eleanor is also survived by her brothers, Ross, Allen, Larry and Wendell Maskell and their families, all of Canada.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Avery, Earl and Harry Maskell of Canada; her husband, Howard Smith of Gilford, N.H. and son, John R. Smith of Arizona.

Eleanor's family wishes to thank the Staff at Colonial Hill of Rochester for the care and compassion they showed our matriarch in the last year and a half of her life.
