Enjoy tomorrow, but first remember ...

Tomorrow may be the only nice day of this long Memorial Day Weekend, but it is the most important day, a day when we give thanks and honor our country’s fighting men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

We may not always be proud of some of the things our leaders may have done or the direction our country may be headed, but there is one thing we do generally agree on: that this country stands head and shoulders above any other on Earth.

The reason we can say that is our military men, who have fought in mortal combat, shed blood and died that we may be kept free.

The liberties we enjoy as Americans are the silent tribute to those valiant souls who fought and perished in the many wars we as a nation have had to endure.

From the Revolutionary War to Afghanistan, Americans have never shirked their duty when it came to defending their country.

And they never will.

So tomorrow, when the sun comes out and temperatures climb to close to the 70s, don’t forget to fire up the grill, play a round of golf, wet a line, get out on your Harley, work on your garden or just enjoy the last day of summer’s opening weekend.

But before you do any of that, take a moment to remember why you have these blessings and to whom you are indebted.

And the price they paid for these freedoms we continue to enjoy and defend.
