ROCHESTER - An escapee from a Concord correctional facility on Sunday was captured in Rochester early today after he was arrested for drunken driving after crashing the stolen car he was driving into a ditch in Rochester, police say.

Jason William Chapman, 40, of Concord, was charged with escape, DWI, conduct after an accident, operating after suspension, simple assault, resisting arrest, and receiving stolen property.

Police first got the call around 1:50 a.m. for a report of a car into a ditch in the vicinity of 85 Innovation Drive near Safran Aerospace Composites, and that the driver had left the scene on foot.

Officers located Chapman in the woods and took him into custody after a brief struggle. No one was injured in the arrest.

Officers also found Chapman did not have a valid driver's license, that he was wanted in escape from a minimum security unit from the New Hampshire State Prison and that the vehicle Chapman had crashed was stolen out of Concord.

Chapman refused bail and is scheduled to be arraigned via video later today at the 7th Circuit District Division Rochester Court.
