Escapee tracked down at Somersworth campsite

SOMERSWORTH - A Somersworth man who escaped from a transitional housing unit last month was tracked down in the woods of his hometown on Friday.

Jacob Maciaszek failed to return to the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester after his work shift on Oct. 7.
The Department of Corrections learned on Friday that Maciaszek might have established a campsite in a wooded area near Rollinsford and Somersworth. In response, Department of Corrections investigators received assistance from the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit and conducted an aerial search for Maciaszek using a state police helicopter. Rollinsford Police Department assisted in the ground search efforts. Maciaszek was located at a campsite in Somersworth and was taken into custody by Somersworth Police Department without incident.
He is currently in custody at the Strafford County House of Corrections, where he awaits transport to the New Hampshire State Prison for Men. Maciaszek was originally incarcerated for burglary and receiving stolen property. He has with a minimum parole eligibility date of Feb. 11, 2024, and a current maximum release date of Aug. 15, 2026.
