DOVER - A former East Rochester man was found guilty on Tuesday of strangling a female household member following a jury trial in Strafford Superior Court.
Terrance T. Sleweon, 40, formerly of 931 Portland St., East Rochester, is facing up to seven years in state prison, but he won't be sentenced until after a second domestic violence trial that begins with jury selection on Oct. 6.
Tuesday's verdict was in connection with his assault on Nov. 25, 2021, when Sleweon placed both hands around the victim's neck and applied pressure, causing her to experience impeded breathing, blood flow or change of voice.
According to a Rochester Police affidavit, the alleged victim told police she had been strangled by her father.
A nurse from Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua who first treated the alleged victim said she had bloodshot eyes and marks around her neck and that her face was "purple and puffy around the eyes," which are all signs of strangulation.
The second trial involves two felony false imprisonment with a deadly weapon charges and four DV simple assault counts that all occurred on May 30, 2021.
During the trial that ended on Tuesday Sleweon opted to run his own defense and will be doing the same at the October trial, according to Assistant County Attorney Hannah Ward.
If he's found guilty on all charges in the second trial he could be sentenced to more than 25 years.
Sleweon is already serving a 22-year sentence for stabbing a woman in the neck
