Ex-Gafney Home chief nabbed in $70G embezzle scheme

ROCHESTER - A former administrator of a Rochester assisted living facility has been arrested in the embezzlement of almost $70,000 from her former employer.

Lisa Gosselin, 44, of 39 White Oak Road, Gilmanton Iron Works, N.H., has been charged with Class A felony theft by deception. Gosselin turned herself into police Thursday morning after being made aware of the charges.

Police began their investigation in January 2014 after a meeting with the Gafney Home Board of Directors who had concerns over several high administrative expenses by their former administrator.

Detectives were able to review financial documents and discover that from January 2012 to June 2013 the Gafney Home made payments of $68,080.54 to four companies that Gosselin had created and registered with the Department of State. The Gafney Home was billed for and paid the money to these businesses for services that were not received. Gosselin directly profited from these payments received, police say.

She left the employ of the Gafney Home in July 2013.

Gosselin was released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear next month for her arraignment at the 7th Circuit Court District Division in Rochester.
