MILTON - Milton Fire and Rescue’s fire trucks have been temporarily relocated from its headquarters on White Mountain Highway after the building’s structural integrity was compromised when it is believed a vehicle inadvertently struck the side of one of the station’s bays recently.

The department’s Facebook page explained to residents on Saturday that the engine in the bay that was damaged has been moved to the Milton Mills station, while the ladder truck from Milton Mills is temporarily being stored in Wakefield to make room for both engines in the Milton Mills substation.

The page also notes department officials consulted with an engineer who determined the bay was not safe to use. The engineer will have a report by next week with a description of needed repairs, the post continued, adding that would pave the way toward getting a contractor started on needed repairs.

The post concludes with, “In the meantime let's hope things are fairly calm.”

No official announcement has been released from Milton Fire and Rescue or town officials on how or when the damage occurred.
