Foley Freedom Run set for next Saturday at James W. Foley Community Center

ROCHESTER - The 11th Annual James W. Foley 5K Freedom Run is scheduled for next Saturday in Rochester.

The event begins with registration at 8 a.m. with the race starting at 10. The Freedom 5K begins and ends at the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center located at 150 Wakefield St.

The event supports the Foley Foundation, which works to protect journalists and support hostage advocacy.

Conflict journalist and humanitarian James W. Foley was kidnapped by ISIS, held hostage, and brutally murdered in 2014. Jim embodied an unwavering commitment to press freedom. His work illuminated the life, dignity, and suffering of every individual, regardless of background or nationality.

The Freedom Run/Walk is also held at Anacostia Park in Washington, DC with the option to participate virtually from anywhere around the globe.'
