Hampton woman fined $1,240 for voting in both N.H., Mass.

CONCORD - A Hampton woman pleaded guilty in a Rockingham County courtroom on Monday to voting in more than one state.

Grace Fleming of Hampton, and also Belchertown, Mass., pleaded guilty to Voting in More than One State Prohibited - a Class B felony.

Fleming was alleged to have knowingly checked in at the checklist in Hampton and cast a New Hampshire ballot, after having cast a ballot in the same election year in Massachusetts.

She was sentenced to 60 days at the House of Corrections, all suspended for one year on the condition of her good behavior. Fleming was also ordered to pay a fine of a $1,000 with a penalty assessment of $240.

In addition, as a consequence of her conviction, her right to vote in New Hampshire was terminated.

Assistant Attorney General Nicholas Chong Yen, of the Election Law Unit, and Associate Attorney General James Boffetti prosecuted this case along with Chief Investigator Richard Tracy.
