DOVER - Harvey's Bakery and Coffee Shop is one of the oldest continuously running eateries in the Garrison City, and arguably has the best coffee in town.
Why?
They use only New England Coffee, and they grind it fresh before brewing that next pot.
But they also put out a good breakfast and have been since 1974. The bakery business was started by Harvey Bernier in 1932.
Harvey's has some heavy hitting breakfasts like their Pork Pie Breakfast or their loaded Meat Lover's Omelet, which comes with bacon, ham, sausage and cheese, but I like to keep it simple with one egg over easy, home fries and gluten free toast.
I asked that the home fries come out crispy, and they did with the meal served in less than eight minutes.
Everything was delicious, but the coffee is what I'll remember, along with my friendly waitress, who said the staff at Harvey's are all like one big family.
""I love working here," she said. "They're all so supportive."
The tab was about $11 plus tip.
Breakfast is served all day.
Harvey's is located at 376 Central Ave. in Dover.
