How Sweet it is! Gonic confectioner takes chocolate indulgence to whole new level

ROCHESTER - To taste one of Brittany Franceschini's chocolate confections you'd think she'd been working on her craft for decades.
But in fact, Franceschini has only been making her sweet treats since last October.
She makes them out of her home in Gonic and was selling them on Saturday at the Granite State Fair.
Franceschini said she'd been pretty busy baking up enough product to get her through the fair.
"I've been up till four in the morning the last week getting enough made," she said.

Franceschini said she started off making just chocolate covered strawberries, but then soon transitioned into making an assortment of delicious chocolate confections for her business, Sweet Treats Bootique.
"Now I make turtles, chocolate cake pops, rice krispie pops, marshamllow pops, chocolate covered pretzels and marshmallows, nutter butters, pumpkins and skulls," she noted.
Chocolate lovers can choose from several cake flavors, including devil's food, German chocolate, strawberry, carrot, pumpkin spice and oreo.
Chocolate flavors include white, milk, dark, mint, peanut butter, salted caramel and cookies and cream.
Toppings can include oreo, coconut, graham cracker and colored sprinkles.
Franceschini said her most popular items are her cake pops, which take about four hours to make.
"First you have to bake the cake and wait for it to cool," she said. "Then you have to crumble up the cake in a bowl and then I make the frosting homemade. Then you mix the frosting with the cake till it's like play dough consistence. Then you have to roll it into balls and then you take you cake pop stick and dip it into chocolate, then put them in the Fridge to dry. Then you take them out and dip them into chocolate and wait for them to dry and then you decorate them. Then package 'em all up."
Asked how many calories are in a cake pop, she grimaced.
"How many calories? I don't want to know," she quipped. Luckily I'm not required to put that on my labels.
Franceshini's cake pops go for $3, but you can get a dozen for just $30.
