DOVER - The Hyder Family Hospice House has been temporarily shuttered while county officials evaluate some equipment issues that recently surfaced.
County Administrator Ray Bower told The Rochester Voice today that there had been some "equipment errors" that bore looking into.
Bower said while inspections to ensure the equipment is operating correctly are ongoing, all of the residents of the Hyder House have been transferred to the nearby Riverside Rest Home, which is fully equipped to provide hospice services.
"In fact at any given time, there are 20 or 30 individuals in hospice at Riverside," Bower noted. "They are fully equipped for hospice care."
Meanwhile, all of the staff at Hyder House are either taking vacation time or working at Riverside, according to Bower.
He expects it likely won't be more than a few days till the equipment issues - which he declined to elaborate on - are rectified and Hyder House is back up and running.
