ROCHESTER - Jacqueline S. "Jackie" Anctil, 85, died after a long, courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, July 5 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Jackie was born in Rochester on June 12, 1929, daughter of Laurence and Ruth (Hoffman) Shaw.

Jackie graduated from Spaulding High School, Class of 1947, and remained active on her class reunion committee and the Spaulding Alumni Association throughout her life. During the high school years of her children, Jackie was a member of the Red Raiders Mother's Club.

She retired from AT&T after 30 years of service and was a life-long member of the Telephone Pioneers Club of America.

In her retirement she, and her beloved husband Tony, developed a passion for golf. The time spent on the many courses served to keep them looking and feeling young, vibrant and active. Socially, their golf cronies defined in large part Jackie (and Tony's) circle of enduring and cherished friendships.

She was an active member of the New Hampshire Women's Golf Association and a member of Rochester Country Club and Martin County (Fla.) Golf Club for many years. Jackie always worked hard to make sure the member-guests and Ladies Invitationals were special events.

Jackie was also active in several clubs and organizations throughout her life such as Frisbie Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Cedar Pointe Village 8 Women's Club.

There was nothing in her life that captivated her love and attention more than her family. If Jackie wasn't on the golf course, she was in the stands of any sporting event that her grandchildren were playing in.

She is survived by her children David and wife Becky Anctil of Rochester, Jim and wife Pam Anctil of Wolfeboro, NH and Cheryl and husband Kurt Douglas of Rochester, NH; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Daniel Anctil and Kenneth Anctil of Park City, UT, Kristen Allard of Boston, MA, Allison Bernier of Milford, NH, Matthew Anctil and Jayson Anctil of Wolfeboro, NH and Janna Anctil of Wolfeboro, NH, Katie Moore of Boxford, MA, Bryan Douglas of Portsmouth, NH, Shannon Douglas of Rochester, NH, Paige Bernier and Drew Bernier of Milford, NH.

Jackie was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Antonio E. Anctil in 2010.
