MILTON - Jeanne York Brown, 81, of Milton, died Saturday evening, March 15, 2014, at Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Fort Kent, Maine, on December 31, 1932, a daughter of William and Ann Marie (Ouellette) Roy. She attended several schools in Northern Maine,

Following the death of her first husband, Perley E. York, she met and married William A. Brown, Jr. Together they enjoyed 35 years of marriage.

Jeanne was the 2nd shift Housekeeping Supervisor at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover for over 15 years, retiring in 1995.

She loved the outdoors, including fishing and camping in Northern Maine. She also enjoyed playing bingo, and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Perley E. York in 1977; a son, Samuel E. York; and a sister, Linda Markowicz and two brothers, John Roy and Pat Roy.

Jeanne is survived by her loving husband, William A. Brown, Jr., of Milton; three sons, William A. Brown, III of Berwick, Maine, Donald P. York of Gray, Maine, Edwin E. York II of Dover; six daughters, Beverly Malerba and husband Philip of Belgrade, Maine, Debora York Francoeur and husband James of Somersworth, Becky York Burr and husband Les of Rochester, Betty York Hurley of Somersworth, Susan M. York of Milton, Wendy Brown Therrien of Berwick, Maine; six sisters, Claudette McLaughlin of Bangor, Maine, Theoline LeBlanc of Florida, Rinette Abalan of Connecticut, Diane Kolosky of Connecticut, Yvette Sullivan and Annette Gosslin of Brewer, Maine; 22 grandchildren, 21great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and friends. She will be greatly missed by family and friends and will be most remembered for being such a devoted, loving and caring grandmother.
