ROCHESTER - Lawrence F. ("Larry") Jillette, Jr., 79, died Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Frisbie Hospital in Rochester after a period of failing health.

Larry was born in Lynn, Mass. January 27, 1935, the son of Lawrence (Sr.) and Concetta (Bernardnelli) Jillette of Saugus, Mass. Raised in Saugus, Larry was a longtime resident of N.H., living in Portsmouth, Dover, and Northwood before moving to Rochester.

An Air Force veteran, he was a former Mason and a current member of the American Legion. A retired civilian worker at Portsmouth Navy Yard, he had previous experience working at General Electric in Lynn, Mass., and part time in real estate and antiques dealing.

As a parent of a special-needs child, Larry and his predeceased wife Patricia, were an unceasing advocate for progressive treatment and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities in New Hampshire, especially in the area of parent-led activism for community-based services.

In addition to spending time with his family, Larry enjoyed golfing, visiting yard sales, and playing board and card games.

Larry leaves behind two sons, Lawrence F. III and Gregory N. Jillette, his two grandchildren Katie and Keith Jillette, and his great grandson Kaden, as well as one sister Alice Gilchrist of Northwood, his nieces Vail, Judy, and nephew Rick.
