LEBANON - You could call her a bag lady and she’d be proud.

Sylvia Morris of Long Swamp Road had the record haul yesterday during Lebanon’s annual cleanup day: 40 bags of roadside trash she picked up by herself.

Morris, who was personally thanked by Lebanon road crews, was one of more than 200 town volunteers who turned out on a beautiful spring day to make their town more beautiful.

Nearly 500 large trash bags were distributed to volunteers and picked up by Lebanon road crews who also volunteered their time and trucks at no charge.

The cleanup was scheduled from 9 a.m.-noon, but town trucks were still on the road picking up bags of trash until 4 p.m.

The Lebanon Rescue Corporation, which sponsored the event, said in a press release it donated nearly $500 for supplies and a free barbecue for volunteers afterward.
