PORTLAND, Maine - A Lebanon man faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty on Wednesday to being a felon in possession of a handgun in federal court.

Lawrence E. Young, 54, of 114 Upper Cross Road, was caught hunting with a 16-gauge shotgun in the area of Acton on May 1. He was prohibited from possessing firearms because of two prior felony convictions.

The announcement of the plea was released by U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II.

Young was indicted on the firearms charge as well as two domestic violence assault charges in August.

He faces a fine of up to $250,000 in connection with the firearms charge.

Young will be sentenced after the federal Probation Office concludes its report.

All of the charges are Class C felonies.

The domestic assault charges remain unresolved.
