LEBANON - A Lebanon man was injured early this morning when the car he was driving veered off of West Lebanon Road, traveled about 100 feet through a ditch and rammed into a culvert and raised driveway.

The operator of the car, a 21-year-old male, was out of the vehicle when Lebanon Rescue crews arrived around 12:30 a.m., according to Assistant Rescue Chief Jason Cole, who noted the vehicle had smoke rising from the engine compartment.

The 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier crashed about a mile north of Route 202.

The man was transported to Goodall Memorial Hospital in Sanford with what are believed to be nonlife-threatening injuries. He reportedly was wearing his seat belt.

The vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene. State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

West Lebanon Road closed for about 30 minutes while crews worked on the scene.

The Lebanon Fire Department also responded to the scene.
