SANFORD, Maine - A Maine man led police on a high speed chase that began in the Sanford Marden's parking lot and ended when he crashed into a snowbank in Wakefield, N.H.

The incident unfolded early Saturday when Sanford Police learned of a vehicle stolen in the town of Wells and driven by a subject they had been involved with earlier in the day.

According to Sanford Police, the suspect, Michael Marble of New Sharon, had contact with officers earlier that evening on a suspected terrorizing incident at the Wolves Club, a city social club.

Officers were provided the vehicle information, and it was located in the Marden's parking lot around 2 a.m.

But when officers got behind Marble's vehicle he fled and led them on a multi-jurisdictional pursuit through Sanford and into Wells and back to Sanford where police spike mats were employed but unsuccessful.

The pursuit then continued on Rt. 109 through Springvale, Shapleigh and Acton, where Maine State Police joined in the chase.

It concluded when Marble lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a snowbank near the intersection of Rts.109 and 153 in Wakefield where he was taken into custody by Wakefield Police.

Sanford Police charged Marble with eluding and driving to endanger. Other charges are pending from the other agencies involved, according to a Sanford Police press release.

Sanford Police were assisted by Maine State Police, York County Sheriff's Office, North Berwick Police, Wells Police, Wakefield Police and Ossipee Police.
