CONCORD - A Pelham man has been indicted for impersonating state and federal officials as part of a scheme to financially exploit his elderly relatives.

The Hillsborough County-Southern District Grand Jury returned indictments charging Jason Taylor, 37, with class A felony counts of financial exploitation of an elderly adult and theft by deception. The charges stem from an investigation revealing that, between April 2019 and October 2024, Taylor used undue influence, coercion, and deception to obtain more than $200,000 from his elderly aunt, J.A., and uncle, R.A.

According to a release from the state AG's Office, Taylor allegedly convinced his relatives that they were required to make payments in connection with a nonexistent court case. To support this lie, he created fraudulent court documents and impersonated multiple officials--including United States Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts. The fabricated documents demanded payment in varying amounts and threatened legal consequences for noncompliance. Taylor also told the victims they were subject to a "gag order," prohibiting them from speaking about the case.

Taylor was initially arrested on the financial exploitation charge in December 2024. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the indictments in Hillsborough County-Southern District Superior Court on July 10 at 1 p.m.

If convicted, Mr. Taylor faces up to 7 ½ to 15 years in the New Hampshire State Prison and a $4,000 fine on each charge.

If you or someone you know is a victim of elder abuse or financial exploitation, please contact your local police department or the Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Adult and Aging Services, at 1-800-949-0470.
