Man in Sept. crash faces OUI, maybe other charges

The Lebanon man involved in last month’s crash on Prospect Hill Road in which alcohol and speed were suspected factors is expected to face alcohol-related charges as a result of the incident, but law officials are holding off identifying him while other charges are being considered, a State Police Trooper said today.
Trooper Jon Heimbach of Troop A which covers Lebanon, said he could comment no further on the incident while investigators continue the probe.
The one-vehicle accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 in the area of 135 Prospect Hill Road when the vehicle slammed into some trees after speeding along much of the length of the road between Milton and the area of impact, Prospect Hill Road residents said the night of the crash.
A score of emergency vehicles swarmed the area with firefighters from Milton and Lebanon using the Jaws of Life to cut the 2011 Ford Escape's roof off before gingerly extricating the man before he was Medflighted to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
The man was identified as from Lebanon, but Heimbach said today he may not still be living in town, and that he is a bit of a drifter.
The man is said to be recovering from his injuries that resulted from the crash.
