Mass. man arrested on drug, DWI charges after leading police on chase

MARLBOROUGH - A Bay State man remains in jail today after his arrest early Saturday morning on criminal mischief charges following a domestic disturbance call and police pursuit.

The incident unfolded around 1:15 a.m. when state troopers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Marlborough. It was reported that a subject on scene was intoxicated and damaged property before leaving the residence, prior to the troopers' arrival, according to a press release sent late Saturday night.

Once on scene, troopers determined that the subject had damaged property in excess of $1,500 and a BOL for the subject was issued to neighboring agencies.

Later around 2:35 a.m. a trooper on Route 101 in Peterborough located the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the operator failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle continued into Peterborough where officers from the Peterborough Police Department were able to successfully deploy stop sticks and deflate the two front tires. Despite the two front tires being deflated, the vehicle continued to flee from law enforcement and onto multiple back roads into Temple, where the vehicle eventually turned down a driveway onto a dead-end road and the pursuit came to an end.

Taken into custody without further incident was Mark Descoteaux, 33, of Pepperell, Mass. He was charged with criminal mischief, breach of bail, disobeying an officer, DWI, reckless operation, operation after suspension (subsequent) and drug possession.

He will be arraigned on Tuesday in Cheshire Superior Court.
