Chopped sirloin with french fries and coleslaw (Rochester Voice photo)

ROCHESTER - The Granite Steak and Grill's menu describes its chopped sirloin entree as a beef patty, when in fact, it's much more than a patty, more like a side of beef.
I'd wager it was close to a third of a pound, taking up more than half the plate, so much the coleslaw had to get its own dish.
The burger comes decked out with sauteed mushrooms and onions topped with a beef gravy that'll sticks to your ribs.
And from their baked to mashed red bliss to french fries, trust me, they know their spuds.
The main course and potato stole the show, but the coleslaw helping was ample and certainly not a disappointment.
The restaurant is always pretty much packed, a tribute to its comfortable atmosphere and attentive wait staff.
To top it off they sang "Happy Birthday" to me while presenting me with a candle-laden gluten free Udi chocolate chip cookie. (I will stack an Udi cookie up against anything made with wheat flour. If you see one somewhere try it.)
Granite Steak and Grill is located at 11 Farmington Road in Rochester.
