Milton man gets almost 2 years in meth case

CONCORD, N.H. – A Milton man was sentenced to almost two years in prison last week for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

Wayne Willey, 54, of 386 Hare Road, was sentenced in U.S. District Court and will serve 20 months in jail, according to U.S. Attorney John P. Kacavas.

Members of the New Hampshire State Police and United States Postal Inspection Service seized a package containing approximately one ounce of methamphetamine which was destined for Willey. The package was shipped to Willey from Daniel Preston, a resident of Monument, Colo.

During an ensuing investigation, law enforcement agents determined that from January 2011 through January 2012, Preston shipped quantities of methamphetamine from Colorado to Willey in New Hampshire. Once the methamphetamine arrived in New Hampshire, Willey would repackage it in gram quantities and distribute it.

Willey was originally charged on Jan. 20, 2012. Members of the New Hampshire State Police Narcotics and Investigations Unit, the Farmington Police Department and the Milton Police Department concluded a monthlong drug investigation into Willey’s activities at his residence.

At the time of Willey’s arrest, law enforcement officials seized approximately one ounce of methamphetamine. In addition, police issued a search warrant at Willey’s residence and seized numerous firearms, a scale and drug paraphernalia.

Preston pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and distribution of methamphetamine and is scheduled to be sentenced in May.

The case was investigated by the New Hampshire State Police and the United States Postal Inspection Service, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Terry L. Ollila.
