ROCHESTER - Mitchell J. Merritt, 42, died from diabetes complications on Sunday June 29, 2025, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Born May 29, 1983, in Rochester, NH, Mitch was the son of Wayne S. Merritt and Kimberly (Rainboth) Merritt.
Mitch was working as an Electrician's Assistant for Hunter S. Thompson in Portsmouth NH. In his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors whether it was the mountains or the beach. He loved hiking, white-water rafting, the ocean, concerts, waterfalls, skydiving, camping, fishing, going to concerts and working on cars with his friends. Mitch's family were the most important people in his life and would do anything for us. He was an animal lover, especially his dog Oscar. Mitch was always there for any friends or family that needed a helping hand.
Members of his family include his mother Kimberly (Rainboth) Merritt of East Rochester, NH; his sister Amanda Peavey and husband Wayne of Sanbornville, NH; his brother Jake Loranger of East Rochester, NH; his maternal grandmother Patricia Rainboth of East Rochester, NH; his two nieces Savannah and Madison Peavey; his longtime companion Amber Rondeau of East Rochester; his uncle Michael Rainboth and wife Annie of Portsmouth, NH, Uncle Mark Rainboth and wife Iesha of Arizona, Uncle Mitch Rainboth and wife Janice of Lebanon ME, Aunt Kristen Edwards of Hollywood CA, Uncle Kevin Merritt and wife Melina of Addison, ME and Aunt Karen and husband John Brunelas; and many cousins and close friends.
He was predeceased by his father Wayne S. Merritt, his maternal grandfather Paul Rainboth, his paternal grandmother Mary Alley Grady, his step grandfather James J. Grady and his paternal grandfather Harold Merritt.
