MILTON - The name of the Milton teen who drowned last month while swimming in Milton Three Ponds will not be released to the public, the Marine Patrol said on Tuesday.

Marine Patrol spokesperson Lt. Crystal McLain told The Rochester Voice, "Where he was a juvenile, we are not publicly releasing his identity"

According to an earlier press release from Marine Patrol, the 17-year-old boy had a pulse after rescue personnel began CPR shortly after the incident was called in around 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 21, but he was pronounced dead later at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.

He was swimming from the kayak and canoe launch in West Lebanon, Maine, to the bridge when he began to have difficulty and call for help, said Amy Yelinko of Milton, who pulled him from the bottom of the pond.

The swimming hole and canoe and kayak launch at the bottom of Prospect Hill Road in Lebanon has been a favorite summer cooling off spot for years, while the Garage Way bridge that connects Lebanon and Milton has become increasingly congested with thrill seeking teens and even younger folk jumping off the span.
