ROCHESTER - Following the closure of Nancy Loud School in August 2023, efforts have been under way to transform the former school, park, and pool area into a vibrant community space.

The redesigned park will feature gravel walking paths, a new playground, a basketball court, a shaded pavilion, multi-generational fitness equipment, and ambient lighting, according to city officials.

"The park will continue the legacy of this special East Rochester property," said Lauren Krans, director of Rochester Recreation & Arena. "With input from the community, we have designed a beautiful, comfortable outdoor space where the neighborhood can gather and have fun for generations to come."

Krans says the pool will remain open this summer. Site work is already in progress, with completion expected by September.
