ROCHESTER - Alexander "Bud" Mackenzie, 70, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, November 15, 2013, at his home in Tara Estates.

Born on Aug. 21, 1943, in Portsmouth, N.H., he was a son of Alexander and Mildred Thorne Mackenzie.

Bud grew up in Newington and Stratham where he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father. He graduated from Exeter High School in 1961 and later served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Andrew's Masonic Lodge in Portsmouth, N.H., and worked for 31 years as a nuclear inspector at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until he retired.

Bud enjoyed discussing history and politics, reading, genealogy, chess, exploring the world on his computer, and rooting for the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

Bud is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon (Parker) Mackenzie of Rochester, his children Heather Senz and husband Brad of Epping, N.H.; Sean Rowley and wife Julia of Los Angeles, Calif.; Shari Stanford and husband Mark of Blauvelt, N.Y., and his sister Joanne Shultz and husband Chris of Greenland, N.H. Bud and Sharon have four grandchildren: Rachel and Christopher Stanford and Ruby and Mick Rowley.
