ROCHESTER - John "Grampa" Sears, 82, of 10 Forest Meadows, died Saturday Aug. 3, 2013, at his granddaughter Leslie (Feliciano) Crowley's Home after a sudden illness.

Born Aug. 10, 1930, in Brockton, Mass., he was the son of Herb and Evalyn Sears.

John has lived in Rochester for the past four years after moving from St. Petersburg, Fla. During his time living in Massachusetts he was employed as a truck driver for the independent Nail Co in Bridgewater. While living in New Hampshire he was a member of the Elks lodge #1393 and the American Legion Post 7. He enjoyed fishing and boating.

Members of his family include his sons; Herb Sears and his wife. Lisa. of Rochester, Lester Tibbetts and his wife. Gloria. of Farmington and John Tibbetts and his wife. Veronica. of Florida, a sister, Mary Oullette of Newport, Vt., 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; he was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis Buopaine Sears, his daughter, Barbara Cote, a brother, Ed Sears and his sisters; Beverly and Arlene Westgate.

A private family service will be held in Florida at a later date.
