ROCHESTER - Russell A. Albert Jr., 82, of Rochester died February 12, 2014.

He was born in Cambridge, Mass., on August 7, 1931, the son of Russell A. and Elizabeth (Stewart) Albert Sr. and was a resident of Rochester for many years. Russ joined the USMC at the age of 17 and was a combat veteran who served at the Chosin Reservoir and Pusan Perimeter during the Korean War. He was awarded numerous medals including the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Following the war, he worked in numerous industries including a floor covering business which he owned in California. He was a Lilac City resident for 39 years, during which time he served as a Rochester School Board member and a New Hampshire State Representative. Russell was an individual who can be characterized by his strength, courage, conviction, vitality and his deep love of family. He was predeceased by his three brothers, John, William and Mathew.

Russ is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carole of Rochester, his son, John and his wife Tina and their son Jake of Topanga, Calif., his daughter, Laura Horta and her husband Brian of Bristol, R.I., and also by his sister, Betty Jane Greenwood of Bristol, N.H.
