ROCHESTER - When two-year-old Owen Monteith of North Conway came to the Granite State Fair last year he was distraught when he was told he couldn't jump on the bungee trampoline outside the Exhibition Hall.
"He didn't weigh enough," his dad said on Saturday. "He's been waiting all year for this."
On Saturday, a year later, the look of intense excitement and anticipation in his eyes was clearly evident as the attendant tethered the youngster into his harness.
"Oh, yeah, he's pretty excited," his dad said as his son began with short jumps before going to new heights he'd never experienced before.

Yes, Saturday was kind of a raw, dreary day, but that didn't stop the crowds from all over New England seeking fun and excitement at the fairgrounds.
Rain is expected to be off and on all day today beginning around 11 a.m. with a high in the low 60s, according to Accuweather.
While today will likely be another raw, damp day, there'll be plenty of warmth in the Exhibition Hall where they'll raffle

The quilt above, stitched by Louise Thibaudeau of Somersworth, will be raffled off today to benefit Wraps of Love, a volunteer group that makes and donates quilts to military veterans.

off a prize-winning quilt made by the volunteers at the Wraps of Love, an American Legion Post 7 enterprise in which volunteers stitch homemade quilts to honor and comfort military veterans.
Raffle tickets at $2 for one or $5 for three will be on sale till 5 p.m. today at the far end of the Exhibition Hall, said Exhibition Hall Crafts Supervisor Annette Plaisted.
Today also marks the 20th anniversary of Circus Hollywood's involvement at the fair.
Granite State Fair Ambassador Joel Sherburne told The Rochester Voice that a ceremony to commemorate their 20th year will be held at 2 p.m.
The final grandstand event of the fair will be a Demolition Derby that gets under way at 5 p.m.
