ROCHESTER - Folks going by the old Lilac Plaza may see nothing but a big construction zone, but actually the outdoor mall already has a new business, Lou's Pastry, located near the south end of the plaza closest to the car wash and McDonald's.
Speaking of burgers, Bad Brgr, known for its old-school smash-burger joint in Manchester, is expected to open up a second eatery at the plaza in February, according to Caitlin Burke, partner in Boulos Commercial Real Estate, which is representing owner Zack Couch and marketing the units.
"This will be the first sort of face lift the mall has seen in 20 years," said Burke. "They'll be redoing the facade and repaving the parking lost."
Among the spaces still open for leasing are the two anchor stores where they're hoping to have a brewpub/restaurant at the south end where a garage was formerly located, and some type of retail/specialty market where the smoke shop that recently closed formerly stood.
Burke said the exteriors of the Lilac Plaza are expected to be finished by January, while the parking lot repaving will be complete by the spring when they hope to have full occupancy.
