SANFORD, Maine - Excessive speed is being blamed in a double-fatal Sanford crash on Sunday.
The accident occurred at the corner of Grammar Road and Candlewood Lane around 9:15 p.m. when Sanford Police say a 2009 Hyundia Elantra driven by Blake Deslauriers, 20, of Springvale lost control, went airborne as it left the roadway and struck a tree.
Police said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash.
Deslauriers and his passenger, Danielle Harrison, 37, of Sanford were found dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
