ROCHESTER - Rochester Police reported today that a man arrested on Thursday on bail jumping charges had missed several court dates and been rereleased on personal recognizance since his arrest back in May on criminal trespass charges.

Jonathan Candilieri, 36, of Rochester, was charged with bail jumping, a Class A Misdemeanor offense punishable by a year in county jail.

According to police, the arrest was the result of Candilieri being arrested on May 22 for criminal trespass. Soon after the arrest Candilieri was bailed on personal recognizance with an arraignment date of July 8 in the 7th Circuit Rochester District Court.

When he failed to show for the July arraignment a bench warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was arrested on July 12, before being again released on personal recognizance with an arraignment date of Aug. 26.

He missed the Aug. 26 hearing, too, leading to another bench warrant being issued for his arrest.

As a result of Candilieri's multiple failures to appear in court, police arrested him on bail jumping charges on Thursday. He was again released on personal recognize with an Oct. 28 court date back in 7th Circuit District Division Rochester Court.

Unrelated to the bail jumping charge, Candilieri was also recently arrested on June 26 on a burglary charge, a class B Felony. After the arrest he was released on personal recognizance bail and given a court date for July 11 at Strafford County Superior Court. He failed to appear for that arraignment as well, resulting in a Capias warrant being issued by the court, leading to a July 14 arrest.

Candilieri also had arrests in 2018 for willful concealment, and in 2017 for drug possession, both of which he also failed to appear for on his original arraignment date. He was later arrested on warrants that resulted from those failures to appear.

Candilieri is one of many recent arrests where repeat offenders continue to be released on personal recognizance bail, fail to appear to court and continue to be arrested on court issued warrants for those failures to appear, only to again be released on personal recognizance bail.

Many of these recent offenders are committing other crimes in the process, police said in today's statement.
