PITTSFIELD - Police today are investigating whether a late-night confrontation at a PIttsfield residence and the later death of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle are connected.

The incident unfolded around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday when officers from the Pittsfield Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 440 block of Tilton Hill Road. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was pronounced deceased at the scene. They are now looking into an earlier confrontation reported at a nearby residence that may have led up to the man's death, according to a Dept. of Safety press release sent on Wednesday.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted today by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

At this time police say the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation by the New Hampshire State Police, the Pittsfield Police Department, and the Attorney General's Office.

All parties involved have been identified and witnesses will continue to be interviewed by investigators.
