ROCHESTER - Rochester Police remained tight-lipped this afternoon about a shooting that occurred inside the Saks Trailer Park on Milton Road a short ways south of Lone Oak Ice Cream.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m., as state law enforcement officials were serving a warrant at 28 Periwinkle Drive, according to Rochester Police Chief Michael Allen.

Allen said members of the state’s major crimes task force were en route to process evidence at the site, but would not say whether anyone from law enforcement or the individual being sought or anyone else had been injured.

He said a statement would likely be coming from the state’s Attorney General’s Office later tonight.

Meanwhile, residents who live on Periwinkle Drive described a chaotic scene as police first arrived.

One resident, Thomas McCabe who formerly lived in Lebanon, said police came “flying” down the road and was surprised they didn’t break their tires on the icy potholes. He said he never heard a gunshot.

McCabe said an elderly lady lived at 28 Periwinkle Driver with her son.

Crystal Kelly, another resident, said first there were three Rochester Police cars with sirens wailing speeding down the road, followed by nine more and that officer pulled shotguns out. Soon State Police and Sheriff’s Deputies arrived as well as undercover lawmen, she said.

None of the residents spoken to said they’d heard a gunshot.

Officers blockaded the road at Milton Road and strung yellow tape across Periwinkle Driver near the incident scene.
