SANFORD - Sanford Police this week reported that the Lebanon man who died in a Tuesday accident on Route 202 just east of the Lebanon town line was improperly passing another vehicle when he struck a Jeep Commanche headed in the opposite direction.
James Desaulniers, 53, died at the scene, police say.
The operator and passenger of the Jeep had to be Medflighted due to serious injuries. Their condition was not available today.
Police say Desaulniers was headed westbound in a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado toward Lebanon when he struck the Jeep around 5:30 p.m. near Foot Lane.
Route 202 was shut down for several hours after the accident, which remains under investigation.
