Police: Rochester woman charged in arson after putting burning rag in car gas cap

SOMERSWORTH - A Rochester woman was arrested on Thursday after Somersworth police responded to an Indigo Hill Road address shortly before midnight for a report of a burning rag hanging out of the gas cap of a vehicle.

The incident unfolded around 11:45 p.m. as officers were dispatched to a residence on Indigo Hill Road.

As a result of an investigation, Jennifer Ashley Neal, 34, of 25 Hawaii Lane, was charged with resisting arrest or detention (misdemeanor), breach of bail Conditions (misdemeanor), stalking (violation), arson - Insurance or Serious Bodily Injury (felony), and reckless conduct - deadly weapon (felony).

Neal was held at the Strafford County House of Corrections on Preventative Detention and will be arraigned on Monday at Strafford County Superior Court.
