Police say death of man found in river doesn't appear to involve a crime

DOVER - Dover Police announced on Sunday that they had identified the deceased male whose body was found in the Piscataqua River in Portsmouth.

The identity of the male is being withheld pending family notifications, police said.

While the cause and manner of death will ultimately be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the incident does not appear to involve any criminal conduct, police say.

The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation by the Dover Police Department's Special Investigations Unit.
