BRENTWOOD - Former Portsmouth Port Authority Director Geno Joseph Marconi pleaded guilty on Friday to one count of Driver Privacy Act Violation (RSA 260:14, IX(a)), a Class A misdemeanor crime.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Marconi was sentenced to 30 days in the Rockingham County House of Corrections, fully suspended for one year; and a $2,000 fine. His incarceration is suspended on conditions that he be of good behavior, immediately resign his position as Director of the Division of Ports and Harbors and be prohibited from seeking or accepting any position with the Pease Development Authority.

After the plea hearing, Attorney General John M. Formella released a statement that said all public officials must be held to account for their actions.
"Public service is a privilege and a responsibility, not a right. Every public official must be held to a high standard and comply with the law," said Formella. "This case demonstrates that accountability applies equally to all, regardless of position or relationship. The Department of Justice will continue to enforce the law fairly and independently to protect the public's trust in its State government."

While serving as Director of the Division of Ports and Harbors, Marconi intentionally and unlawfully disclosed information protected under the Driver Privacy Act, which limits access to certain motor vehicle records except as authorized by law. This case reinforces the Department's ongoing commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring integrity in State government.
