Portsmouth-Kittery middle bridge will be closed next Tuesay, Wednesday

PORTSMOUTH - The Maine Department of Transportation will be performing an inspection of the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge on July 15 and 16 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The lift bridge carries Route 1 Bypass over the Piscataqua River between Kittery, Maine and Portsmouth. Weather permitting, the bridge will be closed to roadway traffic in order to inspect the mechanical components of the bridge. Traffic will be detoured to the Piscataqua River (I-95) Bridge and the Memorial Bridge during the bridge closure.

Message boards, uniformed officers and traffic control devices will be used to notify the travelling public
