Removal of two Gonic dams moves to public hearing in Portsmouth on Friday

GONIC - The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Wetlands Bureau has scheduled a public hearing on Friday to discuss the possible removal of two Gonic dams.

The hearing will be held at 1 p.m. at the NHDES Portsmouth Regional Office, Pease International Tradeport, 222 International Drive, Suite 175, Room A.

The hearing will allow for comment regarding wetlands permit application number 2025-01452, submitted by Gosport Properties LLC. The application requests approval to remove the Gonic Dam and the Gonic Sawmill Dam. The proposed project is located at 73 Pickering Road.

The public hearing will be digitally recorded and included as part of wetlands permit application 2025-01452.

Members of the public may submit written comments to be included in the application record as follows:

All written comments must reference application number 2025-01452 to ensure inclusion in the official record.

Prior to the conclusion of the hearing, anyone may request that the record remain open for a specified period of time to allow for the submission of information not available at the hearing. Otherwise, the record will close at the conclusion of the hearing.
