Rochester woman injured when struck by vehicle

A 52-year-old Rochester woman was injured Tuesday when she was struck by a vehicle while walking near the intersection of Fern and Farrington streets a little after 6 p.m.

Police and Frisbie EMS responded to the area at 6:12 and learned that Danielle Robinson, 20, of Rochester, was making a left turn onto Fern Street from Farrington Street when she encountered the pedestrian, Lori Carey, who was standing on the right side of the roadway.

Police say the area is poorly lighted, and Carey was wearing dark clothing. Robinson saw Carey in the roadway as she was making the turn and attempted to avoid the collision by braking, but the front right corner of her vehicle made contact with Carey, knocking her to the pavement.

She was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries. No charges are being sought due to visibility issues.

The Rochester Police Department would like to remind the public that light and/or reflective clothing should be worn while walking on the streets as dark clothing does not reflect headlamps or street lights very well.
